Peter is currently a third year BA Communication student at the Northwest University, Potchefstroom Campus. He comes from a small town, Darling, in the Western Cape, where he stays on their wine farm Groote Post. He matriculated in 2014 at Paarl Boys’ High School.
From a young age he is a very curious person – someone that always asks questions and wants to know more. Yet he never thought that he would be interested in the media industry one day. During his grade ten year, Peter was asked to be the editor of the school’s online newspaper and in 2014 he was appointed as the editor of the school’s printed newspaper, The Retina. Furthermore, he has a big passion for debating and participated on provincial and nation level during the ATKV debating competition at school. It is here, among other places, where he prepared himself to entertain other people during social events. He also acts as a MC.
Furthermore he also does video presenting and voice over work.
For the past three years Peter was a journalist for JIP and has written numerous articles for this teen page. These include interviews with well-known celebrities to phycologists. JIP was a supplement in Die Burger and Beeld, before it became an online publication on Netwerk24. Peter also keeps himself busy with his own blog, Penna se Praatijes, and has also done some freelancing work for numerous publications, that include, TieMedia, iMatric, I Love Yzer magazine. Furthermore, Peter was a web journalist in 2015 for Wapad, the student newspaper of the NWU-Pukke.
He loves reading good books, he enjoys a variety of coffees and of course, wine. He spends quality time with friends and family and although he fully enjoys his time here in Potchefstroom, his heart still lies in the Cape.
